Lot 28 is a creative repurpose project that transformed a 50,000 square-foot Denver manufacturing facility into a gathering place suited for cultural events, food and drink, and retail use. Preserving the character of the historic River North manufacturing plant proved challenging with the numerous structural systems involved. This included original heavy timber construction from the 1800’s, load bearing brick foundations, pre-engineered metal building elements, precast concrete sections, and a barrel truss roof on steel framing. All of the original spaces were integrated into one complete space. Adding to the complications, were damaged structural elements that required repair and strengthening. To create a light and open feeling within the building, exterior walls were removed and the structure appropriately modified to accommodate these changes.
